Waxing at The Body Bar Lounge is the same idea for women and men: a custom wax, a private room, and enough time to do the area properly. The menus differ. The standard of the visit does not.

Before you come

Hair should be long enough for the wax to grip, about a quarter inch, roughly a grain of rice. Shorter than that and the appointment becomes a trim conversation, not a clean removal. If you can, skip retinoids, acids, and a fresh spray tan on the area for several days. Tell Shuron about Accutane history, recent peels, or anything that has made your skin reactive. Do not book a first Brazilian the morning of a beach trip. Give the skin a couple of days.

The wax

The lounge uses a custom-formulated wax meant to remove hair and, at the same time, soothe, exfoliate, and soften the skin. That is the whole point of not using a generic pot. Women’s waxing covers bikini, Brazilian, legs, arms, underarms, back, abdomen, and full body. Men’s waxing covers chest, back, underarms, neck, nose, and full body, including Brazilian. During and after

You are draped for the area being treated. The wax goes on, sets, and is removed with the hair. It is quick. It is not silent. If you need a pause, say so. Afterward the skin can be pink. Wear loose clothes over a fresh Brazilian or a large body area. Skip the gym, the hot tub, and friction for the rest of the day. No picking at bumps. If you are prone to ingrowns, ask what the lounge recommends before you buy a new acid to put on calm skin.
